Speedline Gerber EZ Workflow

A.       Import Gerber Data

a.        File > Import - "Shift+I"

b.        Double click on layer to invoke the Layer Properties

c.        Select the appropriate Layer Type - "Solderpaste"

d.        Select the appropriate Side - "Top"

 

B.        Set User Zero

a.        Locate desired 0,0 in the lower left corner of the board

b.        Position the cursor and crosshair at 0,0 and run Tools > Zero User - "Alt-Z"  

 

C.       Remove Extraneous Data (unwanted text and graphics)

a.        Select the unwanted data and delete using Edit > Delete - "Ctrl+Del"

 

D.       Convert Traces into Pad Data

a.        Select All data - "*"  

b.        Run CAM > Auto Convert Sketched Pads - "Ctrl+K"   

c.        Enter a radius value of 0.001” (0.0254mm)

                                              i.          This retains rounded corners on paste features unless the radius is < 0.001” (0.0254mm).

 

E.        Convert Pads into Part Centroid Data

a.        Run Parts > Automatic Centroid Extraction - "Shift+@"  

                                              i.          Run this routine multiple times converting patterns from largest to smallest devices.

                                             ii.          Select all incorrectly taught parts and run Parts > Explode Parts - "Ctrl+Shift+E"  

                                            iii.          Manually Teach remaining part patterns

1.          Select the pad pattern of one device

2.          Run Parts > Teach part - "Ctrl-Shift-P"       

3.          Choose correct Part Type and Device Type

4.          Check "Scan this layer for other parts"

 

F.        Generate Inspection Instance Data

a.        Modify the Device Type settings, if necessary, using Parts > Setup Device Types and Inspection Parameters  

b.        Select the Inspection Devices  to be exported

c.        Run File > Export  Inspection Instance Data  

 

G.       Locate Device / Component

a.        Press “P” within the view and type in the components Reference Designator
